Festival season!

After a long break, I'm blogging. I had lots of experience in this break. Festival season is around. Christmas is gone, but the colours, lights, sweets are all present everywhere. From the childhood, I have a small desire during this season. Buying and decorating a christmas tree. So my mom bought me a chirstmas tree. Now it is more than 8 feet. My mom and me even purchase small decoratives which are cute and attractive with bright colours.

Mom we need to do this one day."Decorating a chirstmas tree"

Happy Christmas readers!

Eat :Italian Feast

"No town can live peacefully, whatever its laws, when its citizens .. do nothing but feast and drink and tire themselves out in the cares of love" - Plato

Whatever , i was fascinated to dig on some of the best Italian foods and showcase the same here in my journal. I stumbled upon the following map when i googled "food in Italy"

Polenta is the yellow color base(dough) kind of food . Polenta is a popular food dish that has long been common in Italian and other European cuisine, but has recently gained attention in the United States as well. It is made from ground cornmeal, which is then boiled in water to create a porridge-like substance. Depending on the variety, it can be ground either coarsely or finely, and may be made from either yellow or white cornmeal.
I think I can even add recipes to these food.. Mouth watering... Next is the most favourite drink of mine. "Caffe" In Italy Venice is a place for best coffee. One can find as many  kinds of coffee in Italy as there are pastas.

Italian Vocabulary List: Coffee

•caffè (espresso)—a small cup of very strong coffee, i.e., espresso
•caffè Americano—American-style coffee, but stronger; weaker than espresso and served in a large cup
•caffè corretto—coffee "corrected" with a shot of grappa, cognac, or other spirit
•caffè doppio—double espresso
•caffè freddo—iced coffee
•caffè Hag—decaffeinated coffee
•caffè latte—hot milk mixed with coffee and served in a glass for breakfast
•caffè macchiato—espresso "stained" with a drop of steamed milk: small version of a cappuccino
•caffè marocchino—espresso with a dash of hot milk and cacao powder
•caffè stretto—espresso with less water; rocket fuel!
•cappuccino—espresso infused with steamed milk and drunk in the morning, but never after lunch or dinner
•granita di caffè con panna—frozen, iced beverage (similar to a slush, but ice shavings make it authentic) and topped with whipped cream

Cannoli is a Sicilian pastry dessert. They are tube-shaped shells made of pastry dough, filled with a sweet and creamy filling usually containing ricotta cheese blended with some flavor of vanilla, chocolate, pistachio or other. Liz last trip in Italy was to Sicily.

Gelato ...I wonder what is the difference between gelato and ice cream.. I googled it again. Itz ice cream which is more creamy than usual ice cream. One main difference I found reading is : Ice cream legally has a minimum of 10 percent fat, gelato is made with a greater proportion of whole milk to cream, so it contains more like five to seven percent fat.

Anyway differences apart. I cant resist the temptation towards both.

Very common food : Pasta Pesto.. commonly available in all parts of the world these days.. Colourful tasty pasta here.

Focaccia  is a flat oven-baked Italian bread, which may be topped with herbs or other ingredients.Focaccia is related to pizza, but not considered to be the same.

I enjoyed knowing these food from Italy. Mouth watering experience.. Will be back with the above recipes too....

*Yummy Post*

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ If not for you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

I feel alone . He feels the same, I know. I switched on the television set . After so many days , I got the thought of a box which can divert my focus on my loneliness. It was "Love Meter hosted by Suresh" being telecasted. It was a very simple game show to understand the understanding between a couple. And I bet , If we get a chance to go for the show, myself and Nishok will definitely win it with full bonus. Again , Nish knocks my mind door..
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Here is a poem for Nishok.
If not for you, I wouldn’t know
What true love really meant.
I’d never feel this inner peace;
I couldn’t be content.
If not for you, I’d never have
The pleasures of romance.
I’d miss the bliss, the craziness,
Of love’s sweet, silly dance.
I have to feel your tender touch;
I have to hear your voice;
No other one could take your place;
You’re it; I have no choice.
If not for you, I’d be adrift;
I don’t know what I’d do;
I’d be searching for my other half,
Incomplete, if not for you.
♥♥♥♥♥

I wish today is Dec 4th .Come soon Nishok, after completing your assignment successfully.
Note : I didnt write these line (hope you guessed)

Nobody Wants To Be Lonely - VeryTrue

Here is the lyrics and video of one of my favorite songs. There you are

There you are

In a darkened room
And you’re all alone
Looking out the window
Your heart is cold and lost the will to love
Like a broken arrow

Here I stand in the shadows
Come to me, come to me
Can’t you see that

Nobody wants to be lonely
Nobody wants to cry
My body’s longing to hold you
So bad it hurts inside
Time is precious and it’s slipping away
And I’ve been waiting for you all of my life
Nobody wants to be lonely so why
Why don’t you let me love you

Can you hear my voice
Do you hear my song
It’s a serenade
So your heart can find me
And suddenly your flying down the stairs
Into my arms, baby

Before I start going crazy
Run to me, run to me
Cause I’m dying

Nobody wants to be lonely
Nobody wants to cry
My body’s longing to hold you
So bad it hurts inside
Time is precious and it’s slipping away
And I’ve been waiting for you all of my life
Nobody wants to be lonely so why
Why don’t you let me love you

I want to feel you need me
Just like the air you’re breathing
I need you here in my life
Don’t walk away, don’t walk away
Don’t walk away, don’t walk away
No, no, no, no
Nobody wants to be lonely
Nobody wants to cry
Nobody wants to be lonely
I don’t want to be lonely
Nobody wants to cry

I don’t want to cry
My body’s longing to hold you
I’m longing to hold you
So bad it hurts inside
Time is precious and it’s slipping away
And I’ve been waiting for you all of my life
Nobody wants to be lonely so why
Why don’t you let me love you
Why don’t you let me love you
Why, oh why, why, why, why, why

Nobody wants to be lonely
I don’t want to cry
Nobody wants to cry
My body’s longing to hold you
So bad it hurts inside

Nobody wants to be lonely
I don’t want to be lonely
Nobody wants to cry

Halloween Special

Today is OCT 31st. Its Halloween day. The very word " Halloween " brings to my mind pumpkins,Witches,Wizards,Ghosts.. I haven't experienced Halloween till date. But I'm very eager to visualise this celebration of colours and costumes in near future.

From WIKI:
Halloween (or Hallowe'en) is an annual holiday observed on October 31, primarily in Canada, Ireland, the United States and the United Kingdom. It has roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain and the Christian holiday All Saints' Day, but is today largely a secular celebration.

Common Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, wearing costumes and attending costume parties, carving jack-o'-lanterns, ghost tours, bonfires, apple bobbing, visiting haunted attractions, committing pranks, telling ghost stories or other frightening tales, and watching horror films.

EAT PRAY LOVE - READ WATCH ENJOY !

It was OCT 2nd afternoon, myself and Nishok were crossing Satyam Cinemas. My attention was grabbed by the flex poster of Julia Robert starrring "EAT PRAY LOVE". I was fascinated to read the book which I didnt get from our library because of constant rotations. I forced Nishok to stop the bike and convienced him to watch the movie there then..

Thank God , he was convinced and we both were soon standing in the queue for tickets. The ticket counter was for all the films screened there. Our turn came and Nishok asked the counter boy "Two tickets for 'eat love pray' next show" He was puzzled and told "Certainly u can book the tickets after the release sir. The film is not yet released in India. Itz being released on OCT 8th "

*?!?!?!??!!*

It was the 'COMING SOON' Poster 'EAT PRAY LOVE' . We just came out of cinemas, laughing all the way home, making fun of each other ...

I heard from my friend that the book for too good, esp the Italian part.. "yummy food"

*Smiles*

So I advice "EAT PRAY LOVE - READ WATCH ENJOY !"

Tribute to my hometown - Celebration on!

This year Brihadeshwarar temple ,Thanjavur  is celebrating its 1000th anniversary. I'm really proud that this arhitectural beauty stands in my hometown, Thanjavur,TamilNadu. This temple was built by a well known Chola king, Rajaraja Cholan. This temple is famous and most popularly called "Periya kovil" or "Big Temple". One can enjoy the architectural beauty of this temple. This temple showcases the sculpturing talents like the biggest shiva "Lingam" and "Nandi"

This place, for me is very special as I spent my childhood days playing hide and seek and catch - catch games. I go for walking around the 'pragara'. Beautiful place. Must see place in the world.

Love you Thanjavur. Adore my howe town and its beauty.

This post is a tribute to my homw town and for my big temple.

#3 :Watch a sunrise at least once a year

I have read a book which instructs you to enjoy your life to the fullest. So following them.
==================================================
Contribution by my husband on our trip to beach:

After busy schedules and a hectic week with mechanical life waiting for the weekend to take rest to face the coming week aheard. In between a humble request from my wife saying it was long time we spend time with nature and I would like to see the sun rise tomorrow morning. At that moment, the time was nearly half passed eleven. Night went with plesent sleep and no dreams but, there is a small thought " wake up in the morning" to give surprise to wife saying "Nature call : I am ready for sun rise". Yes the thought in mind is very powerful and disturbed me. Unexpectedly power was cut in the early morning and a whisper in my ears saying "did you get chance to think about what I told you yesterday"; "I would like to see the sunrise in the morning". Slowly I, opened my eye's and asked what is the time and she told me that it was already early morning and time was 4.45 AM. It was midnight for me but slowly woke up and said "ok, Let start we are going to give surprise to SUN. My spouse still did not able to accept and there was a padimonium suituation between dream and reality. She was not able to realise "today we are going to see the nature and sun rise and start the day with blessings of god(nature)."

We have started at 5.30 AM and the bike ride in the early morning was too good with no traffic. Yes it looked like a different day. Imagin, madras with no sound pollution and traffic jam. My speed slowly rised to 60 KM and their was one more surprise that I found was an alternate straight route to city center which is on the way to beach. I realise that in the fast moving life, how many beautiful things are there and we don't have time to even enjoy the love and affection of nature.

Overall it was a splendid experience which cannot be expressed in words. Thanks for my wife to start my day with cool breeze, moderate weather, close hug and small chit chat while driving which made me feel good and believed that there is someone who wants to change my life and bring blossoms.

Weekend job - Clean Clean !

Before :

After :

Hurrah ! finished this hectic job!

Indian Low calorie - Palak Dhaal

Palak Dhaal is one of my favourite dish. I love it when my mom cooks it with Rasam sadam. It is a high protein , low carb food. Folic acid content is high in this dish . Hence highly recommended for girls and pregnant woman atleast once in a week.

Yeah the recipe is as follows

Ingredients :
1cup Thoor Dhaal
1Palak Green Bunch
2 Red chillies
2 garlic cloves (minced)
2 onions
2 tomatoes
1cup beans
3carrots (sliced horizontally)
½tablespoon Turmeric powder
½tablespoon Asafodia powder
Salt as needed
3 tablespoons of Sambhar powder/ Curry powder

Preparation:
Step 1 : Cut the green into small pieces.Soak them in water to clean.Drain the water.
Step 2 : Cut the vegetables into small cubes.
Step 3 : Preheat the pressure cooker and spray oil ( to reduce oil and thereby cholestrol ;) )
Step 4 : Add mustard seeds and allow it to burst
Step 5 : Add red chillies, onion , garlic and saute them till brown.
Step 6 : Then add tomatos and asafoetida powder. this adds smell to the dish.
Step 7:  Meanwhile soak the thoor dhaal in water.
Step 8 : Add carrot and beans to the dish.
Step 9 : Drain the thoor dhaal and add it to the dish.
Step 10 : Add Sambhar powder and salt and palak greens
Step 11 : Mix well and close the lid.
Step 12 : Let cook till 15 minutes or till 2 - 3 whistles...
Step 13 : Serve Palak dhaal for 3

Do it and Comment on how it tastes!
